Chinese thirst boosts Aussie exports
Australia’s wine exports have grown in value by 7% courtesy of a spike in China’s desire for premium wines.
The value of Australia’s wine exports grew to $2.2bn in 2016 and Industry body Wine Australia reported the growth in their annual Export Report.
“Last year, Australia’s most premium wines took centre stage,” the Wine Australia chief executive, Andreas Clark, said.
“Our highest-priced wines achieved record value in 2016 and the momentum has continued into 2017.”
