The Simpsons dies a slow death down under
If Network Ten’s channel Eleven is considered the nursing home of Aussie TV then The Simpsons may well have taken its final breath down under.
The Network announced yesterday that it has hoisted the iconic family from its schedule for the rest of the year after negotiations with 21st Century Fox turned sour.
It is very likely that The Simpsons won’t be aired again on Aussie soil (at least not by Network Ten), given that the network seems to be moving away from Fox programs in general.
Modern Family was also pulled from Ten’s schedule, despite the fact that its next season was due to premiere this month.
A spokesperson for Fox said on Wednesday that Fox would remain open to negotiating new terms with Ten under future CBS ownership, or even with free-to-air networks Seven or Nine.
