NRL round 8 tips

Round seven brought some great action, some sloppy play, and some all-round excitement. With plenty to play for and origin around the corner every team is busting their gut to get the job done. I tipped 5/8 last week, let’s see what I have this week and why.

Dragons v Roosters

Dragons – There is no doubt that this Anzac day match always provides the goods. The last three years have been decided by two points or less, here’s hoping for another tight one. I expect nothing less and really think it can go either way, but I think the Dragons will get it done… just.

Storm v Warriors

Warriors – Arguably two of the most in form teams in the competition. Both coming off impressive wins, they will be pushing to continue their strong form and pick up more wins. With a new Warriors attitude this year and some question marks for the Storm at the beginning of the season, I am tipping the Warriors to win as they will continue to prove that they are hunting for the premiership this year.

Rabbitohs v Broncos

Rabbitohs – What can we say about the Bunnies performance last week. Scintillating, exciting, energetic. They were absolutely outstanding. However, after one of his best performances in a long time, Sam Burgess will be missing again. The Broncos will be looking to hit some form again after losing at home against a strong Melbourne lineup. I am tipping the Rabbitohs to continue their exhilarating brand of footy and pick up the two points.

Sea Eagles v Knights

Sea Eagles – After a horrendous performance last weekend against a winless outfit and internal club issues, Manly can only improve. Newcastle had a terrific win last week but there is no doubt that they are going to struggle without Mitchell Pearce. Manly need a win for the media to focus on the football rather than what is happening internally and I am picking them to get the chocolates at Lottoland.

Panthers v Bulldogs

Panthers – Penrith have come off their first loss in four weeks having being beaten by an underdone Cronulla outfit. While Canterbury defended well, they went down to the Roosters in a gritty encounter. With the Bulldogs having issues in their attack, I am tipping the Panthers to bounce back from their loss and win at home.

Titans v Sharks

Sharks – Titans went down to a struggling Cowboys team in Townsville while the Sharks defied all odds and beat an in-form Penrith team despite injuries. Whilst the Sharks have a troubled history against the Titans, I am expecting Cronulla to win on the Gold Coast and continue their winning ways.

Cowboys v Raiders

Cowboys – The Cowboys needed to win last weekend to turn their season around and did so against the Titans. The Raiders however struggled against a red hot Rabbitohs and were beaten convincingly. With the Cowboys at home and coming off a good performance, I believe they will continue their momentum and defeat the Raiders.

Eels v Tigers

Eels – The Eels finally got their first win of the season last weekend against Manly while the Tigers were defeated in a tight one against Newcastle in Tamworth. As Parramatta have a lot more to play for and Mitch Moses coming off a solid performance, I believe they will beat the Tigers and begin to gain some momentum before Origin time comes around.

3 things to look forward to this weekend

  1. High quality footy on Anzac Day
  2. Manly’s reaction to criticism
  3. FIve days of back to back footy
